Iron Cross HD Front Bumper with Integrated Push Bar

When it comes to original equipment quality, unfortunately, stock accessories have been getting a bit worse over the years. You can’t even blame the Original Equipment Manufacturers either. They are cutting weight to try to met stringent EPA regulations on fuel economy. So a lot of stock parts have had to lose weight again and again. Whether you’re looking at the frame or your truck bed, the cab or the bumpers, these formerly heavy duty steel parts have gradually been replaced with lighter weight components. In some cases, this might not be that big of a deal. Please don’t get me started on the whole aluminum truck bed argument.

But the replacement of old school steel bumpers with light weight aluminum and plastic or even carbon fiber ones is certainly an odd choice.

At the end of the day, I’d definitely rather have a piece of American steel between me and anyone else on the road than plastic or aluminum.
