Whether you’re in the market for a new replacement tailgate or you need a ramp system or tailgate that has an extension, this Elongator is the answer. This full tailgate replacement solution can handle everything your stock tailgate can and then some, including backup camera and remote lock via your key fob for newer truck makes and models. And on top of all that, it’s an 18” extension with integrated ramp attachments.
When you’re looking for a new tailgate, you want one that will not only do all the things your OEM tailgate could handle, but then some. There are few tailgate replacement systems on the market today that even meet that bare minimum requirement. Some add a single element or there are upgrade parts that add function to your OEM tailgate. But none can do all that the Elongator system can. In fact, none even come close.

When you’re looking for a tailgate extension for work or for play, most of us want a few things. The most obvious factor is how much added space it actually grants.
When looking to haul something longer than your truck bed, most of us know roughly how many inches or feet we need to add. If I’m looking to haul a bunch of 8 foot studs home from the hardware store, I know my 6’6” truck bed isn’t going to be able to handle it. And if I don’t want to angle the studs up over the tailgate, then I’ve gotta lay that tailgate down.
In this scenario, I’ll probably be fine with my truck beds length plus the height of my tailgate. But what if I’m rocking a short bed instead? Or what if I need 10 foot studs for my project? Now I’m in a real pickle. Do I rent a box truck just to replace a couple studs in my garage? Do I pay for delivery to build this deck onto the back of my house?
With more traditional truck bed extensions, all you really get is some kind of housing that fits or folds over the top of your OEM tailgate. In other words, these so called “extensions” don’t really add any length to your truck bed other than what your tailgate already supplies. Yes, they make securing your load easier, but we all have straps and tie downs already, right? So securing what we’re hauling isn’t necessarily the issue here. This is a matter of length.
So whereas traditional extensions just make it easier to use the length of your tailgate alone, the Elongator actually folds out beyond your tailgate, locks in position at 180 degrees, and adds 18” beyond your tailgate. Now we’re talking. That’s true truck bed extension. Not only can you use the length the tailgate already added when you lowered it, but you get 18” beyond that.
And Elongator’s construction with holes for hooks from bungees or straps, allows you to easily secure those longer loads too. So what we are talking about here is true extension beyond your tailgate, and this isn’t something you’ve got to hook into your hitch when you need it. This isn’t a product that has to ride lose in your truck bed all the time for just in case you need it. No, it is always with your truck because this extension is the tailgate itself. And it doesn’t take up any added space. It just folds right back up. The tailgate and skeleton of the Elongator are made of steel and stainless steel components. When folded out, the extension can handle up to 850 pounds without breaking a sweat. That’s going to help you get a lot more work and a lot more hauling done.

Now for most aftermarket accessories, that would be enough. Having one great additional function, making your truck more versatile and useful at the drop of a hat--that’s what aftermarket parts do. But with the Elongator, we’re just getting warmed up.

<h2 style="text-align:center;font-size: calc(24px + .75vw - 1px);line-height: normal;">For Loading Anything and Everything with Wheels</h2>
On top of locking at 180 degrees, the extension also can be folded down to 210 degrees to start the quick process of transforming into the integrated ramp system. The extension will only fold to 180 degrees until you slide the little metal knob over to open a channel or bevel in the metal locking plate. Once the knob position is altered, the extension folds down below the tailgate, becoming the top of the ramps.
What’s nice about this, beyond the obvious incredible functionality and innovation, is that the extension is nearly as wide as the tailgate itself, so at the most precarious point, near the top of the ramp, you will have plenty of space to adjust as you load.
Once you have the extension folded out, you will see the ramps that were hidden underneath. These ramps are stored in a recessed area beneath the extension, so that when the extension is closed, they are hidden out of sight. But when you need them, you can easily fold out the extension and remove them.
Often the first question we hear from customers is whether or not the ramps will rattle or make noise when you’re driving since they are stored inside this recessed area. The answer is absolutely not. And the reason is that the Elongator is precision engineered to fit these ramps snuggly within the compartment. And once you close the tailgate, the bottom portion is designed to press up into the ramps, securing them even further. All of this means there will be no rattling noise when in motion here. The ramps are stored securely when not in use, completely out of sight and out of mind.
When in use, simply remove each ramp and attach it to the tailgate extension using the “No Kick Out” attachment method. Simply slide the tabs down into the holes on the extension at the locations needed. You may want to do a little measurement here to make sure you pick the right locations the first time, but Elongator has several great ramp locations that are perfect for common loading of wheeled cargo and small vehicles like ATV’s, dirt bikers, and even motorcycles. The latter are easy because you’ll just want to put both ramps in the middle for single wheel vehicles and even wheelbarrows. But for ATV’s you will want to make sure you have the ramps in the right position. Don’t want to get out the tape measure? Just park your ATV around 7 foot away from your truck’s bumper, or a little over 5 foot away from the tailgate when it is down. Then fold out the extension and just line up the ramps with your tires. Bam. It’s that easy.
When it comes to convenience and storage, you really can’t go wrong here. In fact, never having to load or unload ramps alone makes this product a great purchase for anyone who regularly loads and unloads wheeled bikes, ATV’s, lawnmowers, or just about anything. Even moving something like a fridge or washing machine is much easier with a ramp. And unlike many other ramps on the market, you don’t have to worry about these ramps slipping or sliding or kicking out. The tab system prevents any kickout or sliding at all. These ramps are secure. And they are made of lightweight aluminum, each weighted at 700 pound weight capacity.

At the end of the day, whether you’re looking for a ramp system or a tailgate extension or both, the Elongator is everything you could possibly want and then some. A lot of the times when we’re playing around with aftermarket tailgates and bumpers, we find that there are shortcomings. Like, yes, this rear bumper looks great, but it doesn’t work with backup sensors. Or this tailgate is awesome, but my OE tailgate has a remote lock and a backup camera. Will I lose this functionality when I upgrade to the Elongator?
And the answer is absolutely not. The Elongator has the option to be upgraded to include both a backup camera and remote locking that will work with your OEM plug. Just unplug it from your stock tailgate, remove the old, install the new, and plug it back in. It’s really that easy, and you aren’t losing any of the functionality of your stock tailgate.
