The BedSlide: What is It Exactly?

When I mention the Bedslide, I’m sure many of you have no clue to what product I’m talking about and are probably asking yourself, what in the world is it? Well, when I first saw the Bedslide, I was a little skeptical because I didn’t see the practicality of what this setup had. It is essentially a bracket and roller system that turns your truck bed into a massive drawer when you drop the tailgate.

Rugged and built to last. The perfect combination for anyone with gear or tools to haul. Which leads me to my next point: now I may have been skeptical at first like I mentioned, but the moment I showed the Bedslide to my old man, he instantly said and I quote, “Where the hell was this thing when I was a carpenter?!”

Now for anyone who knows my dad, and frankly I don't expect any of you to, he is a man of his ways and as old school as they come. So when he let out an audible gasp at how incredible this product is he instantly became jealous over the numerous purchasers who have owned these over the years. And I knew right away that this was indeed a solid product I just had to write an article about.

A Drawer for Your Truck Bed on Steroids

Now the Bedslide is more than just your average silverware drawer setup. This thing is rugged, and built right here in the good ole U.S. of A. They strive to use high quality products, and they back the Bedslide for life.

Now they have a few different designs of the Bedslide and each can be used effectively depending upon your activity. They have the Bedslide S, Bedslide 1000 Classic, Contractor 1500, and the Heavy Duty 2000.

Now if you can use process of elimination I’m guessing you can figure which ones are for contractors and heavy duty jobs, whether it's hauling firewood or sheet rock. Now the one what we want to focus on however is the Bedslide S. This bad boy can travel via UPS or FedEx ground, which means you can have it delivered in no time flat, so you’re geared up and ready to tackle your next project.

So now that we’ve covered the basics, let's talk construction. The decking itself is made from a composite material that is then bed lined with the same material they spray into your truck bed. If you don’t know what that is, then why have you read this far? Think spray in liner material.

If you’re still reading, it’s incredibly durable and lasts a lifetime. Now the drawer system uses a cam followers bearing system that helps guide the Bedslide out. The bearings have a 3200 lbs weighted rating, while the bed itself is weighted for 1000 lbs. Basically almost any activity you need the Bedslide for you should be covered.

If you’re needing something stronger with more weight capacity, see above and check out the contractor or the heavy duty version. And remember, Bedslide covers these things for life so take care of it, and they will take care of you if the worst case scenario happens.

Accessories: Upper Tray (Above), Side Kix (Side)

Now let’s talk accessories and usage. We’ve covered the construction and you should be able to tell by now that these things can hold just about anything. Well, they function and perform just as well and have numerous other options you can add down the line in case the “boy I wish I knew I needed that” occurs.

In terms of function, simply grab the release handle and give it a tug, and the Bedslide should come unlocked from its position. Simply slide it all the way out, and it will lock in place at the end of your truck bed thanks to the handy rail system it's mounted to. Don’t need all that room? Simply push the locking handle back into place, and you can easily lock your Bedslide every 12 inches!

In terms of accessories, there are a few options you can use if you want to fully customize and trick out your Bedslide. First and foremost, you have the option for a Traxrail Kit. This adds an extra tall barrier around the edges of your Bedslide to help keep any items secure and stable while you’re driving. It also gives you the option to mount cargo nets or other ratchet straps down to keep things from shifting while driving.

Next on the list you can add the Bedbin kit. The Bedbins are tray slots that work with the T-rack system of the Bedslide to give you some compartments to keep any items you wish, from a tape measure and drill bits, to your lunch if you so choose. To help out the Bedbin actually gives you some extra box spaces in front and behind the wheel wells to make the most of the truck bed and to give you plenty of storage options at your disposal.

Moving Day’s Saving Grace

If you’ve ever moved in your life--

Scratch that.

If you’ve ever helped anyone move in your life, then you likely know the usefulness of the BedSlide already. In fact, you’re probably like me--or my dad--wondering where this product was all your life.

Basically, since I got my first Chevy C/K back in the day, people have been asking me to help them move. I’d like to think that in my teenage and early twenties years it was because I was in really good shape and a nice guy all around. But a lot of it most likely had to do with the fact that I had a truck.

In fact, I think this is something dealerships and anyone selling a truck should warn their fellow soon to be truck owners. Having a pickup truck sitting in your driveway seems to be a invitation to all around, everyone who knows you or knows your family members or friends, to ask you what you’re doing next weekend, cause they could really use some help moving.

It’s the same old story, really. No need to get into the specifics. Maybe you’re moving your little sister and her roommate / bestie to college. Maybe you best friend just bought his first house. Perhaps your mother-in-law is downsizing. Maybe that uncle of yours has a buddy who knows a guy, and boy, they could really use a hand.

Regardless it ends up with you loading all sorts of boxes and dressers and beds and other odds and ends into your truck bed. Now when you’re young and spry this kind of activity is no big deal. I mean, when I played football every fall and track every spring, jumping up into the back of my pickup truck to grab a stack of boxes was no harder than my morning workout and certainly way easier than two-a-days, am I right?

But I’m a little older now. Seems like since I’ve hit my mid-twenties the up and down into the bed of my pickup has gotten a little slower. It isn’t that I can’t do it. But doing it over and over and over again--well, my back and my knees and my quads--most of my body actually, starts to protest a bit.

No joke, as I’m writing this, I’ve got to move a relative this coming weekend. And I’ll tell you what I’ll be happy to have installed on my Chevy. Everyone who sees it too is always like--what the heck is that?

But once you show them, especially in use, they understand exactly what makes the BedSlide so useful. And then they always say, if I had a truck, I’d definitely want one of those.

These days I don’t have to say that anymore. And when I have to move someone, there’s no getting up and down, in and out of my truck bed.

Nope.

I just slide the BedSlide out when we’re loading and unloading, and I slide her back in when we are done and ready to roll. Load after load, she can handle pretty much whatever we throw at her.

The BedSlide is definitely one of the most useful aftermarket products I’ve ever used. And again, until I saw it, I didn’t know such a thing existed, and I didn’t realize how much I was missing it.

Rumor Mill

A little birdie at a recent SEMA show told me that there is very likely to be a no drill install coming for the BedSlide in the near future. If you don’t care about drilling into your truck bed, then this isn’t that big of a deal, but for many of you out there who were maybe not sure about how this install would go, you’ll be happy to know that very soon we should be offering the No Drill Install BedSlide.

If you have any questions about this, give us a call. Either way, we think you will be really pleased with your brand new BedSlide.

Now that You've Been Introduced:

So that my friends is the Bedslide. A simple & better way to access your bed. Period. No more crawling around to get tools or gear. Just grab the handle & pull, turning your truck bed into an easy access drawer. The Bedslide is going to save you plenty of time and money, not to mention back pain. So get more done with Bedslide and get some more work out of your truck.
