BACKRACK Safety Rack

A Headache Rack with built in 3/16” Cold Rolled Wire Mesh

Headache racks, like the original BACKRACK, are all about protecting your cab and rear window from damage. And while many like the look and usefulness of the original style BACKRACK or the open style headache racks, when it comes to truly protecting your rear window, you might need something a little more heavy duty. And you can’t get much more heavy duty than steel wire that’s been cold rolled at 3/16” and welded together every two inches to form a wire screen of metal mesh. When it comes to headache racks, you don’t want to have a solid sheet of metal that you can’t see through because then you lose visibility through your rear view mirror and window. But you do want something to keep heavy objects like tools and large loads away from your glass window. The perfect solution is heavy duty wire mesh. The 2 inch gaps make it easy to keep solid visibility out your rear window. And these gaps are small enough to keep anything that could easily damage your window away from the cab. The mesh creates easy and convenient places to tie on to or attach bungie cords to secure your load. Add on a tool rack or extra lights, and you’ve got a custom Safety Rack that will keep your cab safe and your gear secure. And as with all of BACKRACK’s headache racks, the top bar allows you to easily haul longer loads than your truck bed can by attaching a ladder or longer lumber to your headache rack at an angle up from your closed tailgate. A brilliant solution to an all too common problem: hauling items that are too long to fit in your truck bed. For most installations, you don’t need to drill. The Safety Rack is compatible with a number of different tonneau covers, though special brackets will need to be purchased as well. And there’s even an install solution that works with many traditional toolboxes (also sold separately). And the extra width of the top bar on this rack means you can haul even more longer items than with a more traditional headache rack.

BACKRACK Safety Rack

Whether you’re rocking a single work pickup truck or a whole fleet of them, a solid Safety Rack is a must have item to protect your rear window and your cab in general. And the key difference between the original BACKRACK and the Safety Rack is the 3/16” cold rolled wire that is welded into a heavy duty 2 inch square steel frame. Covering the majority of your back window, this mesh wire screen protects your glass and your cab in general from various issues. And the top bar allows you to haul longer items than would normally fit safely within your truck bed.

Transform your truck bed and increase safety with a sweet BACKRACK today.

When it comes to style and customization, you can’t go wrong with a sweet headache rack from BACKRACK either. These headache racks are built to last. BACKRACK only uses top quality steel and doesn’t use any plastic inserts on the ends. Instead they weld in metal end caps and then grind down the imperfections. The major issue with many racks out there that have plastic inserts is what might be laying in wait inside, behind the insert.

Any gaps like that, like those caused by having plastic inserts, will allow water to get in. And over time, you won’t necessarily even realize what’s happening inside that square frame, but it will be rusting out from the inside.

Over time, this can damage your cheap rack and leave you holding the bag. But if you get a solid device the first time, such as a BACKRACK Safety Rack, you won’t have to worry about this at all because those tubes are sealed and welded in place using metal ends. No plastic here, my friend.

One of the key issues many of us have run into as far as truck bed accessories are concerned is compromise. Often times you’ll have to make a decision one way or another. Do you want a toolbox or a truck bed cover? A headache rack or a tool rack?

Well, BACKRACK has found a great solution. By purchasing separately sold toolbox brackets or tonneau cover brackets, they’ve managed to make their BACKRACKS compatible with most truck bed covers and traditional bulkhead mounted toolboxes. Personally, when faced with the question of getting either a truck bed cover or a headache rack, I’ve really struggled. I want to protect my cab and my rear view window, and the ability to haul a 12 foot ladder around with that rack is just amazing. But then I think of how often I use my tonneau cover to keep water off equipment and just protect my loads in general. How can you really choose? What I might value or need more one day the next changes and I find I need the other.

Well, BACKRACK has made it so that you don’t have to choose. You can have it all and then some.

This is especially true when you look at all the great additional accessories they have to offer such as their tool rack attachment which allows you to carry shovels and racks and other such longer tools with ease. And organizing your tools never was so easy before.

Need some added lighting accessories such as a safety light or flashing emergency light? Just pick up some Light Brackets and add on whatever you like. BACKRACK has it all and then some.

And all of these great products are made in North America, in Canada, as BACKRACK is based out of Oakville, Ontario. We are talking about superior products made from superior materials.

BACKRACK covers their products with a limited lifetime structural warranty, though there is no finish warranty. While that powder coat is super durable, you may need to touch it up over time, so that makes sense. But the structure itself is covered for life.

And with all the great options available from BACKRACK, you’re certain to find a headache rack for you. So if the Safety Rack isn’t getting the job done, check out the original or the Louvered because we just think you’re gonna love one of these bad boys!

And if after all this you decide that the Safety Rack might not be your jam, then please if you are still in the market for a Back Rack or Headache rack you should check out the other fine products from the folks that coined the term. Many of the professional workers who drive trucks every day for a living rely on these products to keep them safe, display hazards to other drivers, and even store their tools. So take a look at all the other fine products from BACKRACK too.

Personally, while I’m a big fan of the Safety Rack both for style and well… safety, not to put so fine a point on it, I also enjoy BACKRACK’s original model. And before we call it on this one, remember that even if you have a tonneau cover, most BACKRACK products can be installed with adaptors right over the top of the cover. It is almost like they’ve thought of everything.
