Husky Liners X-Act Contour Floor Liners

So let me start off by saying you need floor liners in your truck or Jeep or SUV. That’s it. I’m not beating around the bush. You need them. The crappy OEM mats you’ve got in your vehicle right now just aren’t going to cut it. Whether you’re a young man who loves working outdoors and getting muddy in the field or a family man who’s settled down with 3.5 kids and a doting wife, you need to protect your truck’s interior like yesterday.

Why, you might ask.

Let’s take it from the top, eh?

Think about how much money and time and effort you’ve invested in your vehicle already. Now multiply that by the number of years you hope to keep driving her like a boss. Consider the prospect of trading her in for a new model (no, not the doting wife--the truck, you dog!) down the road or passing that pickup down to your son or daughter when they turn sixteen.

Now think back to when you were a youngen, driving around, getting into and hopefully back out of trouble again. Remember how dirty your vehicle’s floors would get when you were 16 or 17 years old? Remember how gross the backseat of your mom’s car was after your little brother or sister trashed it during that road trip one time?

Yeah, all of that has already or is about to happen to you. And the worst part is: it’s gonna happen in your truck too.

Maybe not today. Maybe not next Tuesday. But soon, you or someone you know--it could even be someone you love very dearly--is going to spill something on or drop a french fry and grind it into the upholstery of your vehicle and there ain’t gonna be sh!t you can do about it.

Unless if you beat them to it by ordering your Husky Liners X-Act Contour floor liners today!

And I haven’t even gotten to the worst of it just yet, cause remember that time you banned your kids from eating ice cream in the back seat of your truck? Yeah, you’re wife’s been planning on “borrowing” it to go get mulch for the front yard, and guess what’s on the way home from Home Depot. Yup, that new ice cream place she’s been dying to try!

I too am appalled for you, but my empathy ain’t gonna help you, man. You need to be proactive about protecting your investment in your truck.

And before you drive on over to some unnamed Wall based Box store or mart and pick up some cheap-o Chinese knockoffs, let me drop some knowledge on you, cause these Husky Liners are the real deal. First let’s talk about the difference between Liners and Mats.

What’s the difference between floor mats and floor liners?

Floor mats are what most vehicles come with stock, off the lot. Those often carpeted, small logo emblazoned mats are square or geometrical in shape and only cover a small portion of your floors. Floor liners, on the other hand, are custom fit mats, designed to provide maximum coverage of your specific make, model, year vehicle. Husky’s Liners in particular are created by using lasers to measure the exact shape and size of your floor boards. Then the “Nerds” over at Husky use CAD software to make a model of your vehicle’s interior and design liners that fit the contours of your floors.

In this way, floor liners are incredibly superior. They offer way more coverage in the first place, provide an exact custom fit, and protect more of your floors than mats ever could. They are kinda like super mats in this way. Now, many people, including myself at times, use these words, “mat” and “liner,” interchangeably, but really a mat is just a mat and a liner is a custom fit mat made just for your vehicle, if that makes sense.

And Husky Liners didn’t stop there. They designed their floor liners to be waterproof and to keep any liquid spills within the borders of the liner.

Take a look at any of the images above and you’ll see that each and every Husky Liner X-Act Contour Floor Liner has built in channels. The channels direct the flow of liquid and keep spills from escaping the liner material. They also direct mud and muck away from your feet. Clever, Husky. Very Clever.

WeatherTech Digital Fit, Husky Liners WeatherBeaters, and X-Act Contour Husky Liners

So often customers and Internet memes will compare WeatherTech and Husky, and when they are doing so, they are really thinking about DigitalFit FloorLiners VS WeatherBeaters. And don’t get me wrong, WeatherTech makes a hell of a product. But the truth is FloorLiners and WeatherBeaters are very close when it comes to make and quality. And they are both damn good liners. Just to put it into plan words though, the big thing that separates those two from Husky’s X-Act Contour is rigidity.

Both FloorLiners from WeatherTech and Husky’s WeatherBeaters are made from very similar, very rigid material. Both are flexible enough to easily install and remove to clean, but they are more rigid than these X-Act Contour liners.

And you might be thinking that rigid is what you want, so I figured I’d mention those two just in case. But before you rush over to our full article on WeatherTech Vs. Husky over on the blog, let me give you a bit more to chew on.

First, X-Act Contour Husky Liners are still very durable and offer the same great protection as those other two liners. And many customers find they like the cushion of the X-Acts over the other styles. Many find it more luxurious or stylish than the others.

Secondly, if you live in an area that gets harsh winters, let us advise that you highly consider the X-Act Contour Liners over those other two options. The reason has to do with rigidity too.

While this is not guaranteed to happen, there have been reports of issues with curling in the winter in harsh climate areas. This curling of the TPO or HDTE material has to do with the rigidity of the products. So while rigid liners might sound like what you want, if it gets down below zero in the winter where you live, you might want something with a little more give like the Contour Liners has.

Here’s what happens. Both those other types of liners are just great at offering protection against dirt, muck, and grime. The problem is that since they are so rigid, over time from normal wear and tear, the liners can develop cracks. This especially can happen when the material is really cold. The colder they are, the more likely these cracks are to occur. It actually has to do with chemical molecular structures, and rather than go into all that, I’ll leave it at this: when it’s cold, stuff contracts.

If a liner gets several tiny cracks in it and then winter comes again, as the liner material starts to contract, it will contract more where the cracks are than on the other side. Typically this is on top of the mat. When this contraction happens, it causes the material to roll up on itself. This effect or condition is often referred to by those in the aftermarket community as curling.

And one of the added great features of the X-Act Contour is that it won’t crack and hence won’t curl. Since it is made from softer, DuraGrip material, this stuff won’t harden up in colder conditions and won’t crack either. No cracks means no curling.

So before you consider the other types of liners, know that X-Act Contour is probably the best option out there for anyone who lives in a climate where the winters are harsh or the temperatures get down below zero.
