Since soft roll ups and folding tonneau covers give you this option, they are already ahead of the game. But when you have to pack the whole truck bed full of moving boxes and appliances and furniture, you might want true full bed access.

And that isn’t just about having maximum space in your truck bed to haul stuff. That’s a big part of it. Don’t get me wrong. Some of it is about making sure your 250 pound buddy doesn’t fall into or drop something against your rolled up tonneau cover.

Sometimes, the best course of action is just to remove the possibility of the cover getting damaged. In this case, those QT Clamps really come in handy. You don’t need any tools or special equipment at all. And the only reason you might want some help removing the tonneau is that it might be awkward to get down out of the bed with it in hand solo.

It really is that easy to remove. And I’m not exaggerating when I say every time my brother goes to move, we remove his tonneau cover from his F-150 first just in case. It gives us extra space and peace of mind that we aren’t going to accidentally damage his tonneau.

Of course, when it comes to just moving boxes, we can throw the tonneau back on and slide them in under the cover. Now we don’t have to worry about anything flying out the top of the bed or it starting to rain and get the boxes all soaked.

You really do have the best of both worlds then with this cover because its easy to take off when you need to, and so easy to put back on that really it isn’t a hassle at all. You can use your bed the way you want to and protect your gear when you need to.

Low Profile Look

Finally, the biggest reason to go with the Lo Pro besides the quick release system is probably the look. This soft roll up cover extends less than an inch above your truck bed rails. You’re going to be hard pressed to find a leather grain vinyl cover that sits lower than that. The Pro X15 is a little lower, but that’s a fabric cover.

I don’t know about you, but when I think of tonneau covers, I think of those old school original vinyl jobs, like the one my uncle had when I was little. There’s just something about that style. They look nice and slick, like they are meant to be a part of the truck. And again that’s what I picture. To me this is what a truck bed cover is supposed to be. Just take a look at the pictures above, and you’ll see what I mean. There’s just something about that old school vinyl look that appeals to the inner man in me.

I like folding covers and retractables too. Don’t get me wrong. But each serves its purpose. And as far as style goes, I don’t think anything is going to ever come along that has the soft vinyl top rolling tonneau cover beat. But maybe I’m just living in the past.

Regardless of my personal taste, don’t let anyone talk you out of a cover that you really like the look of. At the end of the day, it is perfectly fine to go with the truck bed cover that you think will look best on your truck bed. No cover is 100% secure. No tonneau will keep all the elements completely out of your truck bed guaranteed. And no cover you don’t think looks cool on your truck will ever magically transform into your idealized version of a tonneau cover either. So go with the one that is feasible.
